Is a business Thanksgiving greeting card a better choice?

07/23/09

Keeping your name on the minds of clients and customers can be critical to success during the holiday season. Most businesses send company holiday cards in December, and those cards are a great way to maintain and attract customer loyalty.

But have you ever considered sending Thanksgiving greeting cards?

Why Thanksgiving cards?

  • A business greeting card sent in November could help get your name into contacts’ mailboxes well before the holiday rush and entice them to come back for more business during the busy holiday season.

  • Many businesses overlook the opportunity a Thanksgiving greeting card can provide. Since many people don’t usually send Thanksgiving cards, it can help your business stand out from the crowd.

  • Thanksgiving greeting cards are also a wonderful way to avoid the worry about offending anyone with religious messages. Along with your card, a coupon for your product or services would be extremely welcome before the holiday rush.

  • Because thanksgiving is a holiday of gratitude, a Thanksgiving greeting card is a natural match for thanking employees and vendors, too.
Tips for sending Thanksgiving holiday cards:
  • Use proper business card etiquette. Remember to use proper titles (Mr., Mrs., etc.) when addressing envelopes.

  • Keep a current contact list. As you gain contacts throughout the year, remember to add their information to your card distribution list.

  • Hand sign each card. Add a personal touch to your greeting cards by signing each one by hand. Recipients will notice the special attention.

  • Send cards early. Plan ahead to be sure you have enough time to address and sign each card, and make sure you get them in the mail for early delivery.

  • Only send Thanksgiving greeting cards to those who celebrate the holiday. It may seem obvious, but don’t send Thanksgiving cards to any customers outside of the U.S. or anyone who does not recognize the holiday.
Let everyone know how much you appreciate their business and send a Thanksgiving greeting card this year. Sometimes a simple “thanks” can go a long way.
