New Mandatory Forms on the Way

08/20/08

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has recently announced that a new Form I-9 will be released in the near future. This revision of the form includes changes that better reflect current employment eligibility verification requirements. Federal law requires employers to verify that all new employees are eligible to work in the United States using a Form I-9. Neglecting to do so can result in stiff penalties.

In addition, the IRS is almost ready to release the 2008 version of Form W-4. By law, every new employee must complete and sign a Form W-4 before claiming any withholding allowances. Current employees also must sign one to change their declarations.

Order both of these essential forms now, (Form I-9 and 2008 Form W-4) and have them on hand for hires in 2008.
