Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
Correctly Verify Employment Eligibility with the New Form I-9
All employers are required to use the mandatory Form I-9 for verification of employee eligibility to work in the United States. The Form I-9 was updated in April 2009 to satisfy employment verification regulations established by the Department of Homeland Security.
Employees may now only present unexpired documents to verify their employment eligibility. Also, numerous documents have been added and removed from the list of acceptable documents on the Form I-9.
